Born just after WW11 in 1948. I grew up in Manchester, England. In those days it was a city of factories, coalmines and iron foundries. I attended St Brigid's Boys' school in Beswick, Manchester and left at the age of 15 years with no qualifications other than my leaving certificate; although I did win a scholarship to enter The Manchester Art College at the age of eleven but for personal reasons I didn't go. Ever since I can remember I have loved art and painted constantly. As an adult I enrolled at an adult art school in the city and enjoyed my time there immensely. Nevertheless, I class myself as a self taught artist and learned to paint in oils and other media by copying the old masters. Now at the age of 58 I am retired and can devote more of my time to the occupation I love best - art. |
