Born in Tunis, Moti Sagron immigrated to Israel at the age of 14. Mr. Sagron studied at the Bezalel Academy of Art in Jerusalem under leading Israeli artists Uri Lifschitz, Yoram Meroz, Ivan Schwebel, Moshe Agmon, Amos Kenan, and sculptor Ezra Orion. Mr. Sagron makes connections between politics and the life of the average citizen. He works from the bottom up, from the backwater towns of the Negev desert to the streets of the immigrant neighborhoods in Israel's cities. His canvases are layered and textured. His colors are subtle and brilliant. Moti Sagron's works are vitally new while profoundly informed by the history of fine art. |
