                                                                   JOHN M GALLO

I was born on July 26th, 1953, John Michael Gallo, the only son of Dr. John P & Elsie Gallo of Surfside, Florida.
Attended Bay Harbour

Elementary, Nautilus Middle School

and Miami Beach High School through the 12th grade, when I went to the University of S. Fla. in Tampa.
Although the plan was for me to follow in my dads footsteps and become a doctor,
something went terribly wrong in Tampa and my biology classes were replaced with Introduction to Modern Art.

With two years of college completed, I returned home and began work in the showroom of a leading interior design

firm called David & Dash. Mr. Dash took a fancy to me and insisted I learn the trade from the ground on up, so he transferred me to the warehouse, where I was introduced to colors with strange names like rust, fuchsia, alabaster & ebony. Here I began to understand how colors worked with one another and I began to

co-ordinate color combinations.

Shortly thereafter

I resumed my studies at the U of Miami, from which I graduated with a BBA degree in Finance and Marketing.

***********

I traveled the across the United States for the next 10 years or so and then in 1991, My mother sufferd a severe Stroke here in Miami Beach.
I took care of my mother in the mornings, so my dad could be a doctor and make his daily rounds treating disease and tending to the broken bones at St Francis Hospital,
but soon found I needed to be with my mom full time, as another and another stroke ravaged her frail body.

I eventually moved back in to my parents house doing cooking, cleaning and caring for my mom.
I soon found myself managing the entire household, grocery shopping, answering calls for my dad, doing his medical practice's billing, and taking on all household responsibilities.
Thus, I became very close with my folks and this was a great time in my life.

**********

I had my evenings free so I began to do what I loved most,  music.  I wrote songs and formed a band whom with I eventually recorded a CD "$10 Guitar"

Then...

I lost my mother, and four months later, in November 1993  ,

to my surprise,

My Dad Died Also!

**********

I moved to Key West and bought a home where I began to paint with watercolors. The art work soon consumed all of my time and this was good, because I was alone and very sad.

My watercolor art became my best friend, kept me company, and brought me great joy.

(Jump to present)

I still paint watercolors and will continue to paint as long as God has that planned for me. In the future, I would like to teach watercolors, as a good friend once told me

"if you ever want to really learn about something, teach it"

 Thank you
