"The dinandiers"
Berkane Mohamed
Oil - 59 Inches x 41 Inches
The Algerian dinanderie dates back to the Middle Ages and concentrates a wide Turkish inspiration. Located around the Casbah, in areas reserved for Algiers, Tlemcen, Constantine and a lesser degree in Ghardaïa and Tindouf, its products bear witness to a great ornamental wealth. From Kérouana to Mahbès, to Tassa and Taftal, these vases and receptacles are of unmatched aesthetics. using mainly the copper sheet, the dinandiers make and decorate real art products.
The trays are the speciality of Constantine that integrates more of the oriental decorative symbols. Among the local products, the Mahbès, the Cafatira, the Kirouana, the M'rach and El Kettara, a toilet, testify to a city tradition.
