"Lonely Sailboat"
Leonard Shane
play with delicate watercolor tones - 22 Inches x 30 Inches
My intent here was to capture that sense of mystery and awe I eperience when I drive the highway to Whistler from Vancouver, B.C. This mountainous highway often has steep cliffsides overlooking the ocean below and many a time one can see a scene much like this with a lone sailboat sitting tranquilly amidst a misty skyline. It was fun to play with many gray tones to capture the mood the mist creates on a cloud shrouded day, yet amidst the deep foliage of the heavily treed mountainside, I still added some bright tones here and there to show the real sparkle and beauty of its forests, something that is always present regardless of the weather. This is a very large painting, magnificently framed in a light silver metal frame set against a simple stark, very large white mat, that really sets off this scene. I should add that as a giclee it reproduces beautifully and is most striking. Enjoy!

Cards
You phoned our school about buying cards for year end functions etc.....so I thought I would go on your website and take a look. I really liked some of your paintings especially "the Breaking Surf "and "Reflections". Not prepared to buy any right now but I will keep it in mind.

your artwork
I saw one of your paintings in an Esquires coffee shop and quite liked it. Checked out the website, and just wanted to pass along how much I enjoy Reflections and The Sea Comes Alive (I think), as well as your watercolour land/sea scapes. I'll start saving my pennies! Cheers and best wishes, keep up the great work!
