O Son of Love! Inspiration from the Baha'i Writings

I had this image in my sketchbook but no idea of what style or which fabrics to use. Katrina Sjoberg
November 20 2011

This often happens when I sketch ideas, as I often do early mornings.  I sometimes gets images as I read inspirational prayers and verses from the Baha'i Holy Writings.  So the images sometimes seem very unrelated but there is very strong symbology that comes with the images I sketch.  I then start thinking of what fabrics to use to express the thoughts and ideas from the sketch.  Sometimes I start with the colors, sometimes just with the patterns in the fabric. Often I find a hand painted background fabric that I combine with commercial ones.  In this case, I embroidered the text by machine and then used various techniques to convey the rest of the image and its message.
