BIOGRAPHY

Born in Paris (France), Nadia lived in Asia and South America during her childhood, bathing in the tropical atmospheres of Laotian mountains and Mekong river, Vietnamese villages and Buddhist temples, in the heart of the Amazonian forest and among the richness of Caribbean islands’ landscapes.

Having grown among the yellow, black and red races, Nadia NADEGE is an imaginative one with opened heart, creative, adventurer of life and citizen of the world. She expresses herself by artistic creation since the age of 17, by drawing and writing, photography and collages, sculpture and mainly now acrylic painting.

Having studied different art techniques (writing, drawing, art history, fine arts) with universities and superior art schools in France (Paris) and USA (Los Angeles), she lives in Montreal since 1997 and continues to train herself and perfect her art - painting, collage, drawing, ceramics.

She also teaches creative and artistic expression by workshops, particularly in her communities and for support groups. Prolific artist, Nadia participates regularly in symposia, competitions and exhibitions, producing numerous works, with a wide place for colorist semi-figuerative abstraction and sometimes artwork as a portraiter and landscaper… but she especially like to be a reporter of people and culture by painting scenes, series and themes.

SUBJECTS / THEMES -----------------------------------------------------------------

Nadia works from several techniques and from varied subjects, from the very small to the very big size. Her production includes the following subjects: o imaginative creation from which landscapes, characters or animals could appear, o portraits of which a series on famous characters having worked for a non-violent movement, and a series in progress on famous women, o alive models and scenes of everyday life as its exhibition about coffee plantations, o still lives among which a new series " extraordinary Flowers " in preparation of a special event with an urban big park Nadia regularly works to the advantage of bodies or of community events : - visual animation of the Annual Marathon of reading by a special series of 16 square canvas, - live portraits for the artistic Symposium " Craftsmen of nonviolence " - works for the artistic Symposium " Word in Art ", - collective salon, fair and artists groups…

MEDIUM / TECHNICS -----------------------------------------------------------------

Nadia works mostly with the acrylic, and also uses collages on painting or paper, the photography and the creative writing. She realized numerous drawings in the graphite, in the charcoal and in the ink, too. The colored palette of Nadia is strongly filled with her experience under the tropical climates and with her life among numerous races, cultures, countries and continents. Acrylic is often worked in square sizes, mostly on canvas and sometimes on paper, using a plats of colors in thick touches meeting glacis in transparency. Stickled creations are carried out on Kraft paper and strong paperboard - or on fabric in the case of mix-media - exploiting the symbolism of the images and the words. Works of Nadia NADEGE are intense, rich fully colored and basically filled of vital power. Her art is often described as fauvism because of her choice of prioritizing gesture and instinctive expression, while she is placed among the colorists and that some defines it a a contemporary expressionism. She says: "I like so much the color which hangs the light, the contrast which gives the depth, the passion which is thrown in the form, the expression in all its freedom... starting from this primary force which emerges from a true gesture. When I paint, I never know what will appear in the canvas, obeying the impulse of the interior glance and the desire to project a piece of life at the end of my brush. I place myself in the interval about which Deepak Choprah speaks. I create from nothing to communicate this infinite sense which is present when everything is possible "

2007-2009 Programs of research

Creative researches about the notions of territory and identity - bricks and electronic memories (work with argile and computering) - the virutal terrorism of the extreme nomadism (work with images and sounds and videos) - undefined movements vs actual territories (work with transportation and boxes) Some of these researches are works in progress and some are experimentation in actual art The artist is constituting teams of research all over the world and is interested in applications of artists from London, Barcelona, New-York, Chicago, San Francisco, Vancouver, Toronto, Sidney, Tokyo and Polynesian Islands.

Through abstraction, I choose among group of properties of objects from real world as from imaginative world, some pieces of elements that characterize an ideal object, projected in a new space anymore dimensions it has. Far away of rejection of brushes and chevalet, I integrate the numerous processes of creation and conception up to the computer binary which allows automotive action of information treatment by the concrete machine and its abstract programs.

This ideal object extracted from a world of significations begins then intellectually and emotionnally plastic and handable, originated among the accumulation of consumerism objects of our daily life (concrete and material) or generated by the infinity of desires objects (abstract and perceptual). So are numbers with their abstract character, mental representations or concepts and logic thinking, as are the spaces created by mediums or cultural diffusion places.

As an artist, the essential is to exalt the act of seeing, inside or outside - letting it jumping outside of the awareness field to materialize a sensitive and catchable form. My artworks are free of models in liberty from the fidelity to visual reality, qualified so as contemporary art as Kandinsky names abstraction the content that the painting must express, which is this invisible part of who we are.
And my artworks can base themselves to a model too, in order to substract volumes and lights: the definition of abstraction reminds us that it is first of all the "ability of the mind to organise a representation". It is the reason why a still life or an alive model allows the transposition of the process of seeing towards renewed boarders. A realistic abstraction defines the frontier face to the point of view of the observer (implying that one looks at something) and suggests a re-reading of scenes as daily as a reversed vase on a table, offering valorisation of the ordinary through art but also its abstract transposition.
Contesting the depressive minimalist conceptual art too much present in contemporary art institutions, the colour is for me a basic creative axis inside of a inspirationnist approach - speaking of chromatism more than colorism. To call the notion of remanence and refraction of colour by the one who catch it, I build a relationship between the opening of the objective with the heart's one, the sensitive one or simply the opening of the human eye as the mirror of the soul. With the colour and the vibration generating pure emotion, spiritual quest, divine presence, inspiration source for the artist can express itselves and be read intuitively, art being considered ultimately as the language of God.
