"Driftwood on the Beach"
Leonard Shane
a very delicate use of watercolor - 11 Inches x 15 Inches
This is a painting I love for it always recalls for me the sense of the tranquility and peacefullness of our West Coast ocean shorelines. The driftwood loosely strewn about the beachfront helps enhance that feeling of ruggedness as well. Watercolor was the medium I chose here as it has a delicateness to it and yet it can also bring out an intensity as well, as both approaches really seemed to suit this scene. This was a painting done in the studio working only from memory from so many visual images I carry with me of peaceful walks along shorelines like this. The many brownish tones in this painting seemed to me so appropriate here as well, as they reinforced the calm I so often feel in the presence of nature. I hope you enjoy this piece as much as I did in creating it. While it's not a large original, its color intensity is such that large giclees of it reproduces splendidly, truly bringing this scene to life and not losing any of the original color intensity.

You phoned our school about buying cards for year end functions etc.....so I thought I would go on your website and take a look. I really liked some of your paintings especially "the Breaking Surf "and "Reflections". Not prepared to buy any right now but I will keep it in mind.

your artwork
I saw one of your paintings in an Esquires coffee shop and quite liked it. Checked out the website, and just wanted to pass along how much I enjoy Reflections and The Sea Comes Alive (I think), as well as your watercolour land/sea scapes. I'll start saving my pennies! Cheers and best wishes, keep up the great work!
