Oil on board representation of the effort to win. Six tons of pressure on each pastern, 50 litres of air per breath and 0-50 in 4 seconds. Worth celebrating!
Not sure where is came from, its a bit of a conflation of Suffolk landscape and maybe an Italian one as well. But inspired by a sky that someone briefly showed me in and art book the sky stuck in my mind. Done over the last weekend of June.
This painting is in the Waterside Fine Art Gallery, 7 Waterside, Stratford-on- Avon, UK. Jockeys and thoroughbreds in a tight group, the broken shapes aim to create the feel of speed and to make the work an abstract of the real thing.
