About Art-work :
Javanesse tradition and Indonesian cultural expression, exposed by artist (Andrik Purwasito) as raw materials and source of inspiration. His art-work in this exhibition, tries to show the important of peacefull coexistence as a cultural platform in international relations. Indonesia as a member of global family, promoted by artist, that all people in the world must respect differential of culture, racial, religion, ethnicity and life of style. Artist proposes that the multiculturalism and democracy, symbolized by the Statue of Liberty must be understand as the concept of life and relationship. Indonesian people, symbolized by the figure of wayang (shadow theater) respect of its concept.
Andrik Purwasito was born in Trenggalek, Indonesia on August 13, 1957. Graduated from Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Science Sociale, Paris (1992) in doctor of history and civilization. As lectureur in University of Sebelas Maret Surakarta, subject teaching is Cultural Communication. He is as guest lectureur in doctor program Institute of Art in Yogyakarta, subject teaching is Art and Environment.
As artist he works in visual art, literature, performing art and installation art. He works as curator and write critic for Indonesian artist. His works devided into three periods : European periode (1987- 1992), Abstract periode (1993-2005), and Pop Art periode (2005-present). Important exposes his art-work is Solo art exhibition, Tears Inside conducted in Solo, Indonesia (2009). He participate Artist in Residence in Summer Symposium of Art and Creation, Organized by Art Colony di Gyergyószárhegy (Romania). He expose his painting in ensemble exhibition in the Art Camp of Lazarea, Rumania (2009) and in ASEAN DAY in Bucharest 6 August 2009
