Tony Allen Blue was a very creative young boy in the ‘60s, constantly trying to sketch and paint what his imagination could see and he still does that today! In 1967 he was majoring in art at college but, with the Vietnam war draft heating up, he decided to join the military as a photographer.

Upon his discharge from the U.S. Air Force in 1969 and to supplement his painting endeavors, he enrolled in Los Angeles City College to further his photography studies. While there, his work was recognized by his instructor and Tony was asked to do an exhibit on campus—his first solo show! That marked the beginning of his unique contribution to the vast and boundless visual art world.

In the mid ‘70s and following the completion of his studies, he opened a photography studio in Los Angeles, California. All the while, continuing to express himself through his painting when time would permit.

With the ‘80s came change and Blue’s creative yearning took over. He moved back to his home state of Florida to direct his creative juices to flow specifically onto canvas. With his hard work and steadfast devotion, Tony A. Blue, the painter, began to emerge!

Many years have passed and Blue has achieved much acclaim—his work has been featured in the Art Buzz Collection international volumes, and he has received numerous awards (from Honorable Mention up to and including Best In Show) at various juried art shows. His work has also appeared in several publications and been featured in fine art galleries.

Today, Tony continues to push his creative boundaries and has also developed a unique paint application process he calls ‘planking’. He works with acrylics and mixed media on canvas or wood—most of his work tends to fall under the expressionistic label and sometimes includes a little social commentary in translation. ”My art is my voice.” - he says it best!
