|Born in 1939 at Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu, India in a small village - Thalakudi he had no intention of becoming an artist till he was 20. |
After that he began sketching as a hobby in his student days in Polytechnic. Gradually he found good improvement and when he
reached the final year he couldn't concentrate in his studies and found more involvement in his hobby than his studies. Finding his
interest his uncle finally allowed him to pursue his interest to become artist. In 1964, Prasanna Kumar enrolled as a student in a
local Art School - CHITHRA ART SCHOOL.
Here he learnt the basics of oil painting under the guidance of KRISHNAN, who was the head of the Institute. After a few months
he started painting portraits of his choice at home. He painted some beautiful portraits here. In 1974 he painted the remarkable
portraits such like MS SUBBULAKSHMI, POPE PAUL- VI....and now he thought it is right time to move to Chennai to start his career
as a professional portrait artist. (to be continued....)
