" Kristin Abraham’s paintings have been exhibited nation-wide. Her work is created with a traditional use of symbolism and storytelling, but with a modern flair. Often surrealistic in nature, she explores various color palettes to depict an emotional response to her surroundings. Historical events often create the mood for personal discovery. "

Dallas Participates in Nation-wide Art Project

The Nomadic Project is sweeping America, uniting the nation
through art, and Texas has just become the eleventh state to participate.
American Fine Art & Frame Company in Dallas is representing this unique project
by displaying Unveiling, an original, 24
x 30” acrylic painting by artist, Kristin Abraham.

The Nomadic Project, designed by artists, Kristin Abraham
and Alfonso Llamas, has traveled for over three months, connecting the
following states: Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia,
Missouri, Kentucky, Arkansas, Louisiana, and now Texas. One city in each state
is displaying an original Abraham canvas until November 13th of
2006. All of the pieces will then reunite for a four-dimensional exhibit
including the forty-eight original canvases, a video documentary, and original
music by Alfonso Llamas. This exhibit is scheduled to tour the United States in
the path of the two artists, beginning in November of 2007.

American Fine Art & Frame Co. has been a leading dealer
in fine art since for over twenty years, and is conveniently located in the
Dallas design district. Owner, David Zueger showed enthusiasm for The Nomadic
Project while meeting with the project’s creators, Kristin Abraham and Alfonso
Llamas, on February 28th, 2006. “Surprisingly, it hasn’t been easy to find
galleries that appreciate such an unconventional project, so when we come
across encouraging owners like David, we feel that all of our hard work pays
off.” explains Abraham.

The piece titled Unveiling, will be available for
purchase at American Fine Art & Frame Co. until mid-November, when Abraham
and Llamas finish Phase #1 of the project.
Unveiling carries over inspiration from Louisiana, but is
extremely unique to Texans due to the fact that it was created while the
artists spent time in Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Big Bend, El Paso,
Amarillo, Lubbock, Fort Worth, and of course, Dallas. Why not a painting of
Texas, in Texas? Because by bringing inspiration from the previous state into
Texas, state lines are blurred, thereby achieving the goal of uniting such a
diverse country, through art.

For more information about the project, and to find out
where the Texas inspired piece ends up, visit www.TheNomadicProject.com. Also,
become a part of this contemporary conceptual art project by e-mailing Kristin
Abraham and Alfonso Llamas with your thoughts or questions at
TheNomadicProject@gmail.com.

Visual artist, Kristin Abraham, plans her last Open Studio Exhibit. That is, the last Open Studio at her Lehigh Acres location. The fine artist, along with her husband, Alfonso, depart in November, on a one year trek through North America.

Kristin explains that the journey is a conceptual art project that involves a year of painting and living out of a bright orange, Honda Element. Initial thoughts of pulling a small travel trailer were overpowered by the idea that the trip should truly consist of “roughing-it.” However, the husband and wife team have budgeted an occasional stay at an economy rate hotel (to clean up and recuperate).

Abraham will leave behind her signature by painting and placing a piece of art in every state. Kristin’s recent series, Inhibitions, is a fitting goodbye, as the artist leaves her own inhibitions in Southwest Florida, she explains, “It is not like planning any other series, I have no idea what to expect, therefore, I don’t know what my themes or subject matter will be. My current paintings are filled with cool colors, but I’ve never been out West, so red and yellow might sneak into my palette again! All I know for sure is that I will continue to use symbolism to express emotion.”

Kristin and her husband are selling all of their possessions and budgeting a modest twenty-thousand dollars for the entire year. Concerns with rising gas prices and changing weather conditions won’t stop them as they celebrate their two year wedding anniversary (November 29th) with the trip of a lifetime.

Discover how Abraham expresses human emotion in her latest series entitled Inhibitions. The complete series is being revealed, for the first time, to the public on Friday, October 28th and Saturday, October 29th, at Abraham Studios, just off Lee blvd. in Lehigh Acres, FL.

Kristin’s work is available for purchase at Tonic Salon in Fort Myers. She will continue to sell her work through her web site (KristinAbraham.com) and select locations throughout the country. Artist’s Statement

My work is created for the sake of communication, not just ornamentation. Enclosed in each piece lies a hidden message for the viewer to interpret. With every brushstroke, I speak the emotions that mere words could never fully convey.

~ Kristin Abraham

Biography

On December of 1982, Kristin Abraham was born second into a family of nine. For eighteen years, Abraham remained in New York, living in the small town of Livonia. To escape the chaos of the barn-shaped house, she started to draw at an early age.

In 2001, Abraham moved to Ft. Myers, Florida and picked up a paint brush. She participated in several local art shows before traveling to Europe to explore parts of England and Italy. Upon her return, Abraham attended Florida Gulf Coast University and exhibited in the FGCU student show. After one semester, she took on painting full time.

In 2002, Abraham apprenticed with mural artist, Cary diValentin. This experience jump-started her commission painting, leading to several large scale works throughout southern Florida. During this time, Abraham achieved gallery representation by Artemesia Gallery, in Venice FL.

In 2003, Abraham married Alfonso Llamas, guitarist of the band Revenge For Hire. From 2003-2005 Abraham taught (k-12) art at a private school in Ft. Myers.

Abraham and Llamas, now work together, conducting melodies with a paintbrush and illustrating masterpieces with six chords. The Nomadic Project is there only child. This project is self funded, and designed to connect the country through art. Click on the Nomadic link below to find out more.
