Karen Zima is a native of Easton, Pennsylvania. She has studied both commercial Art and Fine Art at Penn State University. For the past twenty years she has worked to enhance and refine her art.
Her paintings express our ever-changing world and the people in it.Her artwork raises awarenes of the beauty in people in a way that provokes an emotional response.Experimenting with different medium keeps her work fresh and exciting. She wants her art to have no language barrier with it's multi-dimentional interpretation.Her artwork provokes a powerful sense of mystery.
She has spent the first five years of her career as a freelance court artist, specializing in charcoals, pastels and pen and inks of murder trials. The majority of her work was for seven regional and city newspapers in Pennslyvania and New Jersey. The next five years were spent freelancing illustrations for advertising agencies and accepting commissions for portraits. Although, she has worked in all mediums, she has switched her concentration to oils. And although, she has painted a variety of subjects from landscapes, still lifes and graphic art, portrature has always been of passion of hers.
She turned her back to the commercial world years ago to paint the kind of art she want to paint in her own indiviual and distinct style.
