Born in Singapore in the 1970s, Geetha grew up in a multiracial and mutlilingual society, learning both the cultures and languages of her Chinese mother and her Indian father.
She believes her artistic streak comes from her father and uncles who were traditional hand jewellers and goldsmiths from the South of India.
Despite sustaining a corporate IT career for 12 years, Geetha indulges in art to expand her creative flares in an imaginative and expressive style.
''Although I started painting at an early age, Art was an indulgent luxury at that time to take it up professionally in Singapore. The IT career was in pursuit of the corporate dynamics and to get around the economics of my environment. It was only during my travels and the 8 years in England that I found the mindset to do some serious art and started expressing and experimenting with various media.''
''Planning is not my style.I sit with a blank canvas and let my mind, feelings, thoughts, hands and materials bash it out. The result is then my expression with a title to represent what it means to me.''
Mostly abstract and unconventional, Geetha's works comprise a multitude of media - oil, acrylic, clay, wood, wax and other raw materials. Texture, feel and vibrancy are the constant focus in her work. Exploration is the keyword in her art. Commissions undertaken.
''Explaining my art to anyone is taboo in my mind. The meaning of any art is up to an individual's interpretation and perception - the mind should do the talking.''
''Speak not with thy words, for they are common and abundant; Speak forth with thy forms, for they will be yours and rare.''
