I am a self taught artist and was born in a small coastal town in Wales, UK., where I still live and work. Initially I studied Textile and Embroidery design but now concentrate on painting in oils and pastels. I work exclusively in my studio painting in oils from photographs and my imagination. All my paintings are about everyday life, emotions, romance, nostalgia and humour. Even when painting still life subjects I try to capture the presence of an unseen person about to enter or leave the scene. Although my favourite medium is oil, I also love the velvety soft finish of pastels particularly when painting flesh tones and fabrics. When I am not painting I am probably looking at the work of other artists and am greatly influenced by the works of Edward Hopper, Benito, Lepape and, more recently, Fabian Perez. |
