Artist Statement

Life is inherently creative, yet I find that creating works of art with my own hands is essential. My soul is expressed and nourished simultaneously in this way. Inspiration comes to me from both the natural world and my inner view of the universe. A stray remnant of nature such as a feather, shell, or leaf may strike a chord of resonance in me, compelling me to try and capture its mystery and significance. I must translate an internal vision or feeling of the dynamic balance and flow of energies and dimensions into a multi-layered abstraction that can be seen as either microcosm or macrocosm. I work in a wide range of styles and media, but intense, vivid color is my primary tool of expression. Playing with the endless possibilities, juxtaposition and interaction of color brings me incredible joy.

What beautiful work. Thank you for creating them. I moved from Maryland two years ago without ever seeing your work at the National Institutes of Health. You can be certain that when I return to visit my son I will make a point of visiting your art pieces as well. Also, I enjoy needlepoint. Can I still find your designs?
