Kahu =Keeper of the , Kalai =wood carving tradition. I am trained in traditional wood carving and have been designated a Kahu Kalai for my commuity. The image shows the relationship between the carver center and all the other art forms it interacts with. The wa'a sail, the kupua bird man, the hook of maui the fisher man. The suns source of creativity, the mo'o lizard representation of community, the hula kumu's records of history, the two Kahuna at bottum that guide and vision for the chiefs and community members. One with walking stick and an inner reflection, the other with a visioning bowl and hands emiting power. At bottum of kahuna with stick is the Akua Leo or messenger of God.
