Charles Carson
Acrylic On Canvas - 120 Inches x 54 Inches
"Charles Carson's painting is divided into two distinct and complementary approaches. One was even baptized by some critics and art historians of "carsonism*". This approach is not easy to describe, but in general one can speak of an infinite succession of slightly oblique touches that on the surface energize as much as possible the perception of matter and subject, all sancing on the canvas in quite sensational subtle transparencys, giving an impression of depth to color. It looks like an incessant flow of particles – even though they were quite wide – that swept the matter with fascinating regularity, even disconcerting. The second approach, Carson simply calls it "mosaic". As its name indicates, the latter suggests the fragmentation of the shape and surface that characterizes mosaics. In one case or another, it is for the creator to energize the surface to give it a different state in which a powerfully metaphorical suggestive universe sages. This can be seen, in particular, with the theme of the seabed, which the artist exploits with great precision and relevance plastic and narrative. Two approaches, therefore, two explorations, to be carefully examined for the pleasure of surprise and astonishment."
