Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Patrick W. Hunt began drawing when he was 3 or 4 years old. His Grandma stated that "he was given a gift from God" and he continued to paint over the years. His style is vibrant, full of life, and are all reflective of his personal love for peoples of the earth. He immigrated to the United States at the age of 13, graduated high school at 16 and then attended Pratt Institute, in Brooklyn, New York for a short time before entering the U.S. Navy where he travelled all over the world. During his travels he was able to grasp the concepts of other peoples cultures and this is reflected in is body of work. His favorite medium is Casein (a water based paint) and he also works with acrylics and oils. His dream was to be recognized as a great painter from the African Diaspora. He belives in the Great Spirt that dwells in all things both seen and unseen and the great love that created this vast universe. |
