Oswaldo Pullen, 55, is a Brazilian Painter, born in Rio de Janeiro and living in Brasilia, the Country’s capital, since he was a teenager. In his childhood he liked to draw with coal on the roadway: Cowboys, mountains, dogs, everything was later washed under the angry look of the gardener. At twelve, he bought his first art book, “Anatomy and Drawing” by Victor Perard, and from that moment on, all the paper he could get his hands on was not enough to hold all his pencil drawings, quickly followed by ink ones. His first experience with life drawing and painting was at college, where as an architecture student he had classes on art related matters. Later he left college, but carried with him the indelible marks which led him to his final destination, the visual arts. On the next twenty years he worked with drawings, monoprints, and during the eighties, also with cartoons. At the nineties he explored oil and acrylic over canvas. Today, Pullen paints straight on the computer, doing his musicians, nudes and landscapes from scratch using painting editors, his talent and imagination. |
