"I was born in England in 1947.  Very early in my life I found that I was artistic.  I won prizes at school for my art.  When I left school I did several evening classes Portraits Drawing and Painting.  I  started my art career with McGraw-Hill Publishing Company as a Layout Artist, working on the Magazines Metalworking Production and Boilermaker"

The secret of making something work is believing,

Then to hold that clear definite vision in your mind

And see it working out step by step,

without thought of doubt or disbelief

To see what I am working on develop, step by step, from a vision in my mind's eye is a truly rewarding experience.  My inner most thoughts transformed into something tangable and that I can share with others is truly satisfying.  Having the confidence to make each tiny brush stroke is truly amazing.  It is absolutely awesome to have created something unique.

When I paint everything else disappears, time stands still and I am lost in the process of creating something beautiful.  The wonder of nature and the wilderness are the driving forces behind my painting.

Portrait of Mr PC, my friend's cat
Mr PC is a portrait of a friend's cat. Some people say my work is like a photograph becuase there is so much detail. I am not sure if this is a disadvantage but it is my style. When using Acrylics as in Mr PC I use paint sparingly, never thick. Using several layers or washes I gradually build up the work.

I was born in England in 1947.  Very early in my life I found that I was artistic.  I won prizes at school for my art.  When I left school I did several evening classes; Portraits; Drawing and Painting.  I  started my art career with McGraw-Hill Publishing Company as a Layout Artist, working on the Magazines; Metalworking Production and Boilermakers Review.  I regularly produced line drawings for publication in those magazines.

The company held a competition to design a new logo for one of the magazines.  I won this and my new logo appeared on the cover of Metalworking Production.

After several years I moved to another publishing company in order to expand my horizons.  I worked on the magazine layout for Dog's Life; Shooting Times and Yachtsman.  Here also, I produced drawings and advertisements for publication.

After  having a break of Three years to have a family I returned to the workforce.  This time as an Engineering Tracer/Draftsperson.  During the years after I left school I continued to paint and draw and was able to sell these.

About Ten years ago I started to sell my work in Galleries and exhibitions.  Having no real formal training I have developed my own distinctive style.  I work in Acrylic, Goache, Pencil, Pastel and Pen and Ink.  My work is inspired by nature and wildlife.

I moved to New South Wales, Australia with my family in 1982
