As a painter, Asep Leoka always try to make masterpieces but never push himself to create something without his own impresssions on any objects. “Just flowing” he said, moving his palette knife following his soul. What would a painting be without expressing the whole body, mind and soul. Asep believe that there should be no burden and had be positive, so then all the artistry smoothly flown over the whole canvas. But as seen in every paintings of Asep Leoka, all very dynamics and some parts felt smooth while others seems harder.

Asep Leoka’s philosophy in painting as he mentioned, “Enjoy the feel of the paint and let the brush strokes show. Don’t worry about making it even and blended, keep it loose and free. Do not start shaping your image, you’re simply creating a colored background. Have fun, get warmed up and in the mood for painting.”

After his more than 25 years of painting experience, Asep found his own art pathway, not only painting style but all the way of technical skill, expressions and put his soul deep into the whole existence of his painting object and process.

Creating many kinds of painting objects, asep always try to be freely choosing colors, compositins arranging and his palette knife strokes.

Understanding the objects characteristics and speak for them in colors, composition and stroke is my duty and also obligation as a painter, he said. That’s why he could make different sense of many objects such as Flowers, Barong, Dancers, Fishermen’s boat, Landscape, Figures, etc.
