I have been working with clay for many years. This interest began when I really wanted to make a good coffee cup. I began this quest at the University of Regina, extension program, where I worked in stoneware andporcelain. I furthered my studies at the Nova Scotia College of Art andDesign, where I was introduced to earthenware clay. I continued my studiesat the Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary, where I graduated witha major in ceramic and minor in sculpture. I have lived in Saskatchewan eversince, where there is a rich and thriving arts community. My work hasevolved from mostly utilitarian pieces to more sculptural, figurative workrecently. I enjoy the 3 dimensional quality of pots, each piece being a newcanvas to work on. Along with the figurative work, I explore themes ofnature that is right outside my studio, flowers and I have never forgottenliving by the ocean, so whimsical fish and mermaids are used as well. I have several gallery exhibitions a year , as well as teaching withLearning through the Arts. Life as an artist is never dull and veryfulfilling. Anne Mclellan working at the wheel
